His Presence…

This guy doesn’t have a care in the world.

How about you?

Exodus 33:1 The LORD said to Moses, “Get going…”

Some days you may feel like me. My “get up and go, has already gotten up and gone.”
I don’t have anything left to face the day. I am overwhelmed, and the day hasn’t even begun. Certain more challenges lie ahead, I feel like pulling the covers back over my head.

Exodus 33:12-13 Moses said to the Lord, “See, You say to me, ‘Bring up this people, but You have not let me know whom You will send with me’… And [Lord, do] consider that this nation is Your people.”

Moses must’ve been overwhelmed too.
He seemed to be asking, “Who is going to help me with all of this? I know You called me to do this, but I simply don’t have what it takes. How am I gonna get through this? Lord, show me what to do. These are your people.”
I can relate.
There are so many days I feel like I am in way over my head.
It appears Moses is reminding the Lord, but I think he is actually reminding himself.
We should remind ourselves:
These are your people. This is Your marriage. This is Your child. It’s Your church. Ministry. Illness.
This is Your gig Lord.

Exodus 33:14 And the Lord said, “My Presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.”

God told Moses He was going with him. That’s what He is telling us.
I am going through this with you. We’ll face this together. You and me.
And I will give you rest.
Isn’t that what we really want?
Rest. Peace. And to know all is well.
All doesn’t have to be well on the outside, but on the inside. That’s where it counts.
We want peace.
Every outward circumstance may be crumbling, but Jesus is still with us. Should He call us to face an enormous challenge, we need to know one thing:
He is with us.
He called us to do this.
We have two choices.
Be overwhelmed by it all or be overwhelmed by Jesus. I choose the latter.

Ephesians 3: 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Lord overwhelm me with Your Presence. I can’t do this without You. Help me to keep going. Keep moving me forward despite all of my outward circumstances. Give me rest. Help me to sleep soundly tonight. My life is in Your hands. Jesus, you are good when nothing else is good. We will do this together.
