Just A Weed?

And then there’s this.

It may be just a weed to some. To him, it was his gift.

He did it for me. Just wanted to make me smile. To see me happy.

And he did. I lit up.

You know what I didn’t say? I wish you gave me roses. Sure wish you had given me a few more flowers here kid. No, I didn’t ask him if this was it. Is this all there is? Is this the best you got? Those things didn’t even cross my mind.

Lots of days we beat ourselves down over things we didn’t get done.

God is not disappointed in you. No way. He is pleased with you. Beyond pleased.

All your work, whatever you do for Him, He is delighted over. Anything set apart for Him, blesses His heart. It is never wasted. You know why? Because He sees your heart behind it. He sees our little weeds. Soft hands holding out what we have as an offering to Him. For Him. No one else.

That makes His heart smile.

You may feel unimportant. Insignificant. Overlooked. Not by your God. Never.

Sometimes we only see dirty diapers. I’m just a mom. All I do is clean up messes. I’m just a chauffeur. Only thing I do is cook all day long.

There are no insignificant jobs in the Kingdom.

God took the time to record a cook.

1 Chronicles 9:31 Mattithiah… had the trusted office over the things that were baked in the pans.

The man was entrusted with baking pans. This was his calling. His appointment. His divine assignment.

Not prestigious in the eyes of the world, but God recorded it.

He records.

He hasn’t missed one thing you’ve done for Him either.

Here these words:

He loves you. He sees your heart behind it. He doesn’t compare you to others. He doesn’t wish you did something else. Something more important. What you’re doing is important. He made you for your specific job. Whatever He has called you to do, do it with all of your heart. For Him. An audience of One. The only One to whom we look for approval.

He sees your little weeds. They make His heart smile.

Whose Standard?

IMG_7770

The boy shows up with this.
All shy acting. Reaches out to me, “Here you go Mom.”
Just at the right time. It was.
There was the doctor’s appointment for him this morn. A routine check-up. And the question that lingered long in my mind, echoing.
“So Mrs. Bollas, would you say he is above average, average, or below average academically?”
I pause. And smile polite.
I want to ask her a question.
“By whose standard?”
My God doesn’t compare. He made this guy who He decided He should be.
In His eyes He is perfect. He is WAY above any standard. He brings God’s heart joy because He is His son. Not because he can read or can’t read. Not because he is better or worse than someone else’s kid at Math.
Comparisons bring coveting.
When we compare our children it puts so much pressure on us, and them.
What we’re really looking at are deficits.
Should we focus on perceived shortcomings? Not at all.
God doesn’t measure. Nor should we.
God celebrates.
He made us each different for a reason. We are unique in every way. For a very specific purpose.
What is that purpose?
To know God, and make Him known.
And God chooses to do that differently in each one of us individually. We shouldn’t strive to be someone we’re not.
Praise God for who you are. He gave you special gifts. Use them.
If He blessed you with children, thank Him for who they are. If they are “below average” according to the world’s standards, God is going to use that in their lives. Be encouraged.
It is in our weakness that we are strong. Strong in Him.

1 Samuel 16:7 … For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

This boy’s heart is big. It makes me smile big.

He Is Able

uttermost

Hebrews 7:25 He [Jesus] is able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

Take risks on this. Stake your all on it. Mrs. C. Cowman

Believing this will change your whole life.

Let’s define uttermost: it means all the way, fully, completely, lacking nothing, finally, at all times and in all seasons.
Where does today find you?
Are you dealing with an impossible person?
God can save anyone at any time.
Are they out of your reach?
No one is beyond His reach. Distance is no matter for Him. When we call upon His name, He acts.
He intercedes. They may not be speaking to you. No worries.
Romans 8:27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
The Spirit intercedes on our behalf. His voice is unavoidable.
Do you think they will never change?
Jesus doesn’t come for good people.
Mark 2:17 Healthy people don’t need a doctor, sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.
No one has gone too far.
Nothing is off limits for Him.
There is not a marriage that He cannot restore. No drug addict He can’t redeem. No child He can’t return. No struggle we can’t face.
He is able.
I am not.
Jesus Christ has the power to change a man on the inside. To give a new heart. Melt a hard heart of stone. Renew a depraved mind.
He is capable of all that I am incapable of. All that I can’t handle.
He can break any stronghold.
There really is nothing our God cannot do.
He never fails.
He is all knowing. All wise. All sovereign. All good. All in all, He is all that I am not.
He saves. He keeps safe and sound. He can rescue from danger. Heal. And restore.
Saving is His job. Not mine. My job is to trust that He can. And proceed accordingly.

1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

He can bring life in the most unexpected places.
