Soul Needs

do you see me

Philippians 4:19 My God shall supply all your need…

Many times we think of this verse as referring to our physical needs and sometimes it is. More often, God is concerned about our spiritual necessities…our soul needs. He wants to conform us into His image. He definitely uses suffering to bring that about.

He will use the physical to bring about the spiritual.

That is what He did with Hagar.

Genesis 16:13 She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”

Hagar did nothing to deserve the things that were happening to her. She had no control over her situation. She decided to run away. She didn’t get very far. God came. He found her where she was hiding out. She was so scared. Alone and feeling like she had been abandoned, she probably wondered if anyone knew what she was going through.

It was here in this place of desperate need that God revealed Himself to her.

God met her there. He spoke to her and she was able to endure the trial before her.

It will be the same for you.

Our vision is so clouded by things that don’t matter. When crisis comes those things are whittled away.

Sometimes we may not understand what He’s doing or why. But we can trust His word. He was doing something big in Hagar’s life. She just didn’t know it yet.

If you’re in a difficult situation right now, here are a few things God wants you to know:

He hears your heart.

He sees your need.

He has something to say.

Don’t miss it. He will speak to you. Slow down. Pray. Take time to read His word…those are some ways He speaks to us.

Jeremiah 29:12-13 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Decisions Decisions

Facing a major decision can be exhausting. It keeps us up at night. We play out every scenario. We make lists; weighing the pros and cons. We get people’s opinions. If you’re like me, you become so filled with anxiety you can’t even think straight. It’s just that we don’t want to make a bad decision. There’s a lot riding on this.

We can feel like a little baby lamb wandering aimlessly…alone and lost.

God hasn’t lost sight of us. We’re not in this decision alone. Sometimes we just forget God is there.

God says, “I see you.”

Equally important, He can see things we can’t. God knows what’s best for us.

Psalm 139:3 You comprehend my path…

I love the picture this word “comprehend” captures. It’s a picture of winnowing grain. Back in the day, women would crush their grain to loosen the unusable part called chaff. Then they would throw it in the air and allow the wind to carry the chaff away. The very best part of the grain is what remained.

If you find yourself despairing, lift up your situation to God. Allow Him to carry away the choices that aren’t His best.

If you’re struggling financially, remember if God wanted you to have it, He would provide the money. If you can’t afford it, don’t bankrupt yourself. It’s not for you. It’s not God’s best.

Let it blow away.

Will your decision wear you out physically? Will there be nothing left for your family? Don’t do it. Let it go.

Let it blow away.

Will your decision draw you closer to Jesus? If not, it’s not God’s best.

Let it blow away.

Will this choice be the one that brings God the most praise, and give Him all of the credit? If not, don’t do it.

Let it blow away.

When you give your decisions to God, He’ll blow away the choices that aren’t best for you. He’s your Dad. He won’t allow you to make a bad decision. He loves you too much! He’ll show you the best path. Be patient.

Winnowing was not a quick process.

Determination or Defeat?

Determination or defeat?

Judges 1:27 But Manasseh never managed to drive out…[their enemies]

Neither did Ephraim…

Nor did Zebulun…

Nor did Asher…

Therefore we can conclude they never possessed ALL that God had for them.

I had to ask myself if I indeed have possessed all that God has for me this year.

Have I done what He called me to do?

Have I finished well?

Or have I left some things on the back burner?

In order for us to accomplish all that God has for us we need one thing:

Determination.

In fact, we need more determination than our enemies.

The enemy will fight you tooth and nail…subtly…he doesn’t jump out and make it obvious…he puts a nail in your tire so to speak…he sends someone to discourage you…he brings up past failures…he causes doubts…

Be an overcomer!

Make your life count for Christ!

Don’t be content with mediocre.

God has so much more in mind!

Did God call you to do something?

Do it.

Do it now.

Do it with all of your heart, mind, soul and strength.

There are people he wants you to reach. There are places he wants you to go. For me, I don’t want to use this disability as an excuse. I have a good excuse in the eyes of the world…but NOT in the eyes of God. God is calling me to persevere.

He is calling us to a higher calling.

Always wanting us to climb a little higher to our high hills.

Let’s finish strong…no regrets…

Gotta get going I still have a lot of work to do!
