Still Small Voice

I’ve had enough.

I can’t take anymore.

I’m worn out.

I hear Elijah’s heart.

The Lord did too.

And He came to him so gentle, “What are you doing here?”

1 Kings 19:10 So he said, “I have been very zealous for the LORD God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.”

Elijah answered the question of why he was there. But that wasn’t the question.

What are you doing here?

That was the question.

Elijah was hiding in a cave.

The Lord came and got him. He spoke soft.

1 Kings 19:11 Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD.” And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD,

but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was

not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.

The Lord comes and speaks to Elijah in that cave. Elijah was hiding. Doing nothing. He put himself out of commission.

That still small voice recommissioned him.

The Lord called him to come out of hiding. Get going.

If today finds you in a cave, hear the Lord’s still small voice.

“I see you. I hear your heart. I know. Things have been too much for you. I am with you. You are not alone. I know you’ve been overwhelmed. I have a job for you. I need you to get up and get going. Come out of the cave. Reach out to someone today. Pray for them. Write them. Text them. Give them a smile. I love you. I am for you.”

Sing a New Song…

Are you despairing over a situation or person in your life?

Revelation 5:5 …“Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne, has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.”

Jesus is holding the scroll of your life. He is in control of every detail. Beginning to end.

Sing a new song this morning. Acknowledge that He is on the throne of your life. Your marriage. Your singleness. Your illness. Your depression. Your anxiety.

Keep your eyes fixed on Him.

Let Him restore your hope.

Hebrews 4:16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

He overcame death! There is nothing you cannot overcome. Nothing.

You got this!

Job 42:2 I know You can do everything.

There is nothing He can’t do. That’s your God. Big God. In control God. God that’s on your side.

Sisters, can I encourage you to do what Job did? He prayed for his friends.

Job 42:10 And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends…

Something amazing happens when we pray for our friends. We are set free from despairing thoughts. Thoughts that hold us captive. Jesus fills our hearts with joy, even in suffering.

Choose one sister to pray for today.

I pray both of you will be singing by the end of the day.

Revelation 5:11-12 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice:“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

Good Works…

In all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you. (Titus 2:7 NKJV)

Sisters, we are exhorted in these verses to be a pattern of good works. A pattern is an example. Can people look at your life and follow you?

Integrity is what you do when no one is looking.

We represent Christ. And these verses tell us people are looking on. And the enemy is just waiting for us to shed a bad light on our Lord. We want everything we say to honor the Lord. We should choose our words carefully. We want to speak uplifting words of encouragement that build others up and not tear them down. We should never speak poorly of another person to anyone. Nor should we listen to someone else gossip about another. All of those things tear down the body of Christ.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. (Proverbs 18:21 NKJV)

In addition, all of our actions should be a reflection of our relationship with Jesus.

Abstain from all appearance of evil. (1 Thessalonians 5:22 KJV)

No matter what kind of pressure you are under, if it could even be a hint of impropriety, don’t do it. It is better to make the heart of the Lord smile than compromise with the enemy.

This is a photo of a “Joseph Coat Rose”. She starts out pale yellow. The hotter the sun beating on her, the more beautiful she becomes; a radiant pink. A picture of a godly woman who maintains her pattern of good works even under the greatest temptations.

Father, I need your help to be a pattern of good works. I want to glorify you with everything I say. I desire for all my actions to honor you. Holy Spirit, I ask you to shine your flashlight into every area of my life. Reveal any areas of compromise. I want to purify myself for You. In Jesus Name. Amen.
