God With Us

I had a rough night. I woke up with some health issues. Heart racing. Anxiety. Fear.

Should I go to the hospital?

I wasn’t sure what to do. I woke my husband up to pray for me. He gladly obliged. I decided to read for a bit. Wait. And pray. I went back and forth; from begging God to heal me to reading some more. Before you know it, I was asleep.

I felt the Lord’s Presence last night.

He was with me. Through it all. I felt Him. His Presence. Immanuel, God with us.

I feel great this morning.

How are you?

Philippians 3:1 Whatever happens… sisters, rejoice in the Lord. I never get tired of telling you these things, and I do it to safeguard your faith.

Do you need reassurance? Are you worn out? Scared? Lonely?

God sees. He knows.

He will be your constant companion through this dark night.

Rejoice and sing to Him. Worship Him for Who He is this morning. Not for what He can give you. Not for what He may do for you. Just for Who He is.

He is love.

He loves you. You are precious to Him. He will see you through this season. You will overcome.

Every storm brings the rain that helps us grow. We need rain. If there’s a storm right now, embrace it. He comes with clouds. Take His hand and He’ll walk you through it. He will never leave you.

Zephaniah 3:5 …Morning by morning He dispenses his justice, and every new day He does not fail…

A Must Have For Marriage…

The enemy said,

‘I will pursue,

I will overtake,

I will divide the spoil;

My desire shall be satisfied on them.

I will draw my sword,

My hand shall destroy them.’ (Exodus 15:9 NKJV)

I can just see the enemy licking his chops.

You know the story well. Pharaoh is pursing God’s people. He has them literally backed up against the wall. No way out. They were doomed.

Things looked impossible.

It can seem like this in our marriage sometimes.

We can feel so frustrated. Like things are never going to change. Finances, prodigal children, step-children, addictions and many other things can bring division into our marriages.

I want you to notice the tactics of the enemy  here:

  1. He pursues.
  2. He overtakes.
  3. He divides.
  4. He destroys.

Satan’s tactics are the same in our lives.

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…(John 10:10)

His sole goal is to divide you from your husband.

Your husband is not the enemy.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual

hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12 NKJV)

Your marriage is under attack. If your husband has been taken captive by the enemy, you need to fight for him.

Don’t give up on him.

Don’t distance yourself from him. Draw near to him. Even and especially when you feel like he doesn’t deserve it.

Don’t dwell on the past. Let those things go.

Let’s be humble. Do a lot of overlooking. Forgive and move on.

Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go

back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.(Exodus 14:21 NKJV)

God made a way when there seemed to be no way.

Let’s stretch out our hands to our great God. Ask him to part the sea in our marriages. In those impossible situations. Take the wheels off the enemies chariots. Be a prayer warrior for your husband. If we don’t pray for them, who will?

A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. (Ecclesiastes 4:12 NLT)

Father God, we desperately need you to intervene in our marriages. Speak to our husbands. Speak to us. Give us wisdom on when to speak and when to remain silent. Help us to choose encouraging uplifting words that bring life to our marriage. In those areas the enemy is getting the victory, Lord, crush Him. Bless our marriages so they will bring honor to your name. Amen. Amen.

Fighting the Real Enemy…

Judges 5:31 “Thus let all Your enemies perish, O LORD! But let those who love Him be like the sun when it comes out in full strength.” So the land had rest for forty years.

The enemy was in her tent.
But, Jael was ready.
She didn’t waste any time. She quickly made an end of him.
She took a tent peg and struck him through the temple.
Yeah, that was radical.
This women was brave. I admire her courage. She took a big risk.
Jael lived on the edge. She did what many women would be unwilling to do.
We can learn a lot from her.
Has the enemy entered your “tent”? Your thought life? Your marriage? Your ministry?

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Our battle is not with flesh and blood. The enemy is not your husband. Not your mother. Not your sister. Not your child. The enemy is Satan.

Ephesians 6:16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

God is faithful. So very faithful. He is going to fully cover us with his protection.
Rely on Him. He won’t fail you.

Our battle is spiritual. We need to fight with spiritual weapons.

Don’t use your words. They will fall short.
Don’t use manipulation. That won’t work.
Don’t try to play Holy Spirit. He does a better job…

You can grab your “tent peg” and crush the enemy.

Ephesians 6:18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

Prayer is power.

The Lord will give us power to recognize the enemy.

Here are just a few of mine:

Ephesians 4:2 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.

So many times a situation can be diffused by one person saying, “You’re right. I am wrong.” We want to press our point when yielding would be better. Even when we know the other person is wrong. The Lord will honor your humility.

Luke 10:42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

There are so many things pressing in on us. Vying for our attention. Push it all aside and sit at Jesus feet. It’s there you’ll find what you’re really looking for. Don’t rush off.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Ephesians 4:3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Make haste for unity! Don’t allow Satan an inch; he will steal a mile.

Come out against these enemies in full strength. Not your own strength, but in the strength of the Lord.

Ephesians 6:10 Finally: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
