Genesis 15:5, 11 Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”

The Lord took Abram outside. He told him to look up at all the stars and gave him that wonderful promise: He would give him descendants that were as numerous as the stars in the sky…
that’s a lot of stars…and that’s a big promise to believe seeing that Abram had zero children and his wife was barren…BUT GOD…and it says Abram believed God…but we still see he asks God a legitimate question…

God often confirmed His word with a sacrifice. Sacrifice often represents surrender. We don’t always understand what God is doing. Sometimes it just doesn’t make sense.

2 Corinthians 5:7 We walk by faith, not by sight.

We need to live as though the things that are not seen, are already.

Full surrender.

Has God asked you to believe Him for something big? Trust Him in a way you’ve never trusted before? Is He taking you way outside your comfort zone? Asking you to step out in a big way? Step out onto nothing but His word?

Sometimes we do look at the situation and think it’s impossible. We know it is.

But God…

Luke 1:37 Nothing is impossible with God

God tells Abram to bring Him a sacrifice: a heifer, goat, ram, dove, and pigeon.

He brought ALL the Lord asked. Have you brought ALL the Lord asked?

Full surrender?

Notice what happens when he brings all:

Genesis 15:11 Some vultures swooped down to eat the carcasses, but Abram drove them away.

This is exactly what happens to us when we grab hold of one of God’s promises; the enemy swoops down to steal our trust. Steal our confidence. Steal our word. Steal our joy.

Did He speak to you?

You can trust Me.
Don’t be afraid.
I am with you.
I will supply ALL your need.
I will change him/her.
I will intervene.

Don’t let the “vultures” steal that word from you.

Keep in mind the vultures were just the vessel. In our lives, the enemy will sometimes use our own family or friends to steal that word.

Drive them away. Right away.

In the Hebrew, the word for “drive away” often meant “to blow like a wind”…it only takes one breath of the Holy Spirit to come drive the enemy away…One breath of the Holy Spirit to bring life…one breath to raise the dead… Ask the Holy Spirit to come breathe on your situation…drive out the voice of the enemy and allow the still small voice of the Lord to be louder.

Yes, it did look impossible. It was impossible. Except that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD!!!! He only asked Abram to believe. He didn’t ask him to make it happen.

That’s what the Lord asks of us. See the invisible. Believe the Promise.

The word of the Lord can be trusted!

There’s this happiness all wrapped up in a big bundle of fur that I want to tell you about. His name is Smiley. Smiley was born without eyes, a condition often associated with dwarfism. His legs are a little bowed, his head is a little large and he stands “a little crooked,” his owner said. He was one of 85 dogs rescued from a puppy mill in a small town in Ontario. They found homes for all of the dogs. Well, all except for one. Smiley was rejected. No one wanted him. The lady who found him decided to keep him. She knew instantly he was special. She believed in him. Smiley became a therapy dog! He goes to nursing homes. He sits with people who need a listening ear. He visits children with special needs. He encourages them to do new things. Helps them achieve new levels. He makes them smile. Special needs create opportunity for special deeds. Smiley’s disability gave him the ability to serve a very special group of people. Without his disability, he would NEVER have served them or even met them. They have opened up so many doors for him. He was rejected my man, but chosen by God. God has a very special plan for his life. God has a plan for your life as well. A path chosen just for you. Be YOU! Blind, gimping, not a good speaker? Make noises? Have tics? Different? Yes! Different is good! Embrace it! Make it yours. Make it your message to the world. These things make you relatable. On a side note, we as women strive to look like everyone else. We want to have that perfect body. There is no such thing. Strive to be YOU! YOU are perfect. Just. The. Way. You. Are. If Smiley could see, I guarantee he would’ve been adopted into a loving family. He would’ve had a good life. Comfortable. And easy. His special needs gave him so much more! His life is so much fuller than the average pup. He is much stronger in every way. The same is true for you. Disabilities create need. And weakness. They make life more difficult. No doubt about it.2 Corinthians 12:9-10…My power works best in weakness…That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong. We become stronger on the inside. Our faith grows exponentially. God is giving us unique opportunities. He is enabling us to reach people others can’t. People who are just like us. Opening doors to touch so many more people in need. Smiley rose above his circumstances. And God is using him in a big way. He will do the same in your life as well.
Proverbs 31:15 She rises…God wants us to rise above our circumstances as well. He will help us to overcome every obstacle we face. He will use it for our good and His glory.
Dear Jesus, how can I use this disability in my own life? Who can I reach out to? How can I serve you best? Lead me to cross paths with someone I can help along the way. I know that you have a purpose for it. All Your ways are good. Please help me to see this as You do. ~She Rises p.1

Just Put It Out There…

The boy just put it out there.
The bowl.
It was only 7:30 in the morning. I wondered who he thought might see it?
It didn’t matter.
It was raining at that.
That meant nothing to him. He had only one thing on his mind. He just wanted to help someone. This was all he could think to do.
When he brought the bowl back in at noon, do you know how much money he collected?
Nothing. Absolutely nothing. It was empty.
I had to ask myself a question. What would’ve happened if he didn’t put the bowl out there?
Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
At least he tried. It may not look like anything to anyone, except One.

1 Samuel 16:7 …For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

God sees the heart behind it.

Leviticus 27:9 … all that anyone gives to the Lord shall be holy.

Anything you offer to the Lord is precious to Him. You are His child. It moves His heart. When your own child gives you a present, do think to yourself, “What will people think of this ‘gift’?” Or “What am I going to do with this stupid thing?” You would never think that. You’re just so happy this kid wanted to give you something that you can’t stop smiling. You want to call everybody up and tell them how cute this was. Post pictures. Tell the world all about how great this kid is.

As we close out this year, were there some things you wanted to do that just didn’t get done? You feel the Lord calling you to do it. Maybe you wanted to write a note to someone. Or write a book. Start an outreach. Make a phone call. Create a website. Go on a mission trip.

Do it.

Just put it out there.

It may be just a few words, just another book, just a little outreach. Who cares if no one comes. Just offer it. All that you have. All that you are. It’s precious to our God. If it’s offered to Him, watch what He will do with it.

Even your emptiness.

God can do anything with a willing heart. And open hands that are willing to give what He asks.

We evaluate. Scrutinizing our work. Our words. Our grammar. Our situations. And inabilities. We think God can’t use this, or me, or that.  You know what? You’re right, He can’t use it if you don’t offer it. If you don’t put it out there, nothing happens. No change comes.

Or how about being a mom? It’s all I can do right now. Are you doing it for the Lord? Bring it to Him as an offering. Bring it. Offer it. Put it out there.

All that anyone gives is holy. Precious.

Not just big things. But little things too. Even suffering. Weeping.

Offer it to Him as a sacrificial present. Its priceless to Him.

How about your marriage? Or lack there of.

Give it to Him.

How about cancer? Special needs child? Prodigal?

Put it out there. Ask Him to use this for His glory.

Begin this new year with your offering. Your present to your God.

Did God call you to do something? Say something? Start something? Write? Love?
It may look like just an empty bowl. A few bread crumbs. A simple card.
Don’t underestimate the impact you have. Just put it out there.

Do it.

Do it with all your heart. Do it with joy. It brings Him joy.

This is all about Him. He is all that matters. He finds your offering of great value. It’s important. Cherished. You will be so surprised to see how He fills even your emptiness. He’ll use it all.
You just may change someone’s life.
