My To-Do List

Bouncing toward me was this.

 Hair all flopping around.

 Cheeks gleaming rosy.

 Smiling angelic.

Sometimes the love of God is so surprising.

 This is love.

God meets me on this road.

It’s moments like this that take my breath away.

I miss too many of these moments. My eyes are on my to-list.

Today, he is my to-do list.

I’m gonna slow down and laugh with him.

 Run with him.

 Play with him.

 Look him in the eyes.

 Listen to him. Really listen.

 Capture the moment.

 Love him well.

 Cherish my gift.

Thank you Jesus for Your love. This love. It is overwhelming.

Today I pray God meets you on your road. And surprises you. And overwhelms you.

Behind That Cloud

moon 11 19 13

It was a perfect morning. The air was crisp and cool. Not a drop of rain in sight. A brisk wind was blowing. I was immediately captivated by the moon. It was brighter than usual. Surrounded by clouds its light whispered a soft melody. It was radiant. I seemed to drift off in thought and not even 5 minutes later it was gone. Where did it go? Black clouds moved in. They swallowed up my beautiful sky.

Our life can go that way sometimes.

Everything is going perfectly one minute and the next it’s falling apart. It may be the worst thing that you’ve ever gone through. What good could possibly come from this? We may wonder why this is happening.

I did.

When Camden was first diagnosed everything went black. My life literally had no color. I saw no purpose for any of it. I could not see God in any of it. I found out He was in it. He was in all of it. He was there the whole time. Even when I couldn’t see Him, He was there. Now several years later I realize God allows pain in our lives so we can know He is the pain reliever. He allows everything to fall apart so that He can pick up all the broken pieces and put them back together. He makes something beautiful out of it.

He can fix it all.

Even though you may see no purpose for it right now, God is doing something you can’t imagine. He will use this “thing” in your life in ways you never thought possible.

Although I couldn’t see the moon, it was still there.

God is still there. He hasn’t left. He is with you. He’ll see you through this.

You can trust Him.

Isaiah 41:10 There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you.

Discerning the Times

polar bear

I had a dream last night. It was so vivid. My front yard was filled with water; much like the Arctic. There were a few polar bears scattered about. Some were above the surface and some below. One polar bear in particular stood out. He was large with a commanding presence. He had two little cubs following closely behind him. They were swimming in a circle; playing and romping about. Noticeably, he was looking down. His head was below the surface. All the while very large storm clouds were rolling in. Things were getting dark and ominous, but this bear was oblivious.

This is such a picture of what is happening in our world today. Things are getting darker by the minute.

The Bible tells us there will be a day when the Lord returns for His people. Everything around us points to the fact that the time is eminent for this to happen. While the Bible clearly states that no one knows the exact time, it does point to things that will happen. There are telltale signs.

2 Timothy 3:1-5 You should know this… in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly.

If this verse doesn’t describe our society, nothing does.

Discern the signs and the times.

Matthew 24:37-44 37 “When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes. “Two men will be working together in the field; one will be taken, the other left. Two women will be grinding flour at the mill; one will be taken, the other left. “So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into. You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.

If that polar bear had been looking up, he would’ve seen what was coming. He could’ve protected his cubs.

Look up.

Your cubs will follow you anywhere. You can’t afford to miss this. Knowledge is power. If you don’t know you, you owe it to yourself and your children to find out the signs. The only place to get your answers is found in the Bible.

Don’t put it off. The time is short. Don’t ignore it and hope it goes away. The storm clouds are rolling in.

God is trying to get your attention.
